This workshop offers forensic odontologists practical training in the use of the KMD PlassData DVI
system for Disaster Victim Identification. Participants will learn to digitize antemortem and postmortem dental records, generate and interpret automated match results, and apply expert judgment in confirming identifications. Through hands-on exercises and case-based discussion, the session will cover best practices for managing dental data, resolving uncertain matches, and reporting findings clearly and consistently in line with international DVI protocols.
Open to all experience levels, this workshop equips attendees with essential tools and skills to support victim identification in mass fatality events.

René Pape
René Pape (born 1963 in Nykoebing Sjaelland, Denmark) is Principal Consultant of the software company KMD A/S, where he has been employed since 2019. Before that he was the Technical Director (CIO) of the software company Plass Data Software A/S, where he had been employed since 1981.
René Pape holds a BSc and Academy Profession in Computer Science from University of Copenhagen from 1985.
René Pape has a wide experience in developing customized software applications for specialized business processes in various industries: DVI, Dentistry EMR/EHR systems, psychiatry, real estate and energy trade.
René Pape does requirements (PO), architecture, scientific development, full stack development, on-site work, training, installation, sales, support and whatever is necessary.
As senior software developer and KMD PlassData DVI System trainer, he has 23 years of Disaster Victim Identification experience. He has been assisting several national authorities in the aftermaths of disasters e.g. the Thai Tsunami (2005), the Princess of the Stars ferry capsizing in the Philippines (2008), the Christchurch earthquake in New Zealand (2011) the MH17 plane crash in eastern Ukraine (2014) and the Great Belt Bridge rail accident, Denmark (2019).
René Pape also served as Chairman of the Board of a district heating company from 1991-2020.
