IOFOS 2026 Meeting President Welcome Message
Dear Societies Members of the IOFOS, Dear Delegates, Dear Colleagues, and Dear Friends
I am honored to invite you to the Triennial Meeting of the International Organization for Forensic Odonto-Stomatology (IOFOS 2026), held in Lisboa, Portugal, from September 9-11, 2026.
The IOFOS 2026 Triennial Meeting theme is “Digital Workflow and Artificial Intelligence in Forensic Odontology: A Path to the Future“. This is an excellent theme for the next IOFOS 2026 Triennial Meeting since today’s obstacles represent tomorrow’s opportunities. The meeting aims to embrace this theme by highlighting conferences emphasizing the dual nature of Digital Workflow and Artificial Intelligence in forensic odontology. We will explore how Digital Workflow and Artificial Intelligence transform Forensic Odontology practices while addressing potential ethical concerns and challenges. Thus, the scientific program will reflect this theme, allowing you to cover a broad spectrum of relevant subjects from the latest advances in forensic odontology.
One of my main goals as IOFOS President is to promote excellence in forensic odontology practice, education, and research. This meeting aims to strengthen the integration between Forensic Odontology and other forensic sciences. I am committed to fostering membership engagement and involving the young generation.
The IOFOS 2026 meeting will have a program incorporating one day of workshops and two days of conferences, oral communications, and posters. The three days of the scientific program will be complete with a social program.
With this meeting in Lisboa, we are visiting one of the oldest cities in Western Europe, rich in culture and history. I hope you will take the opportunity to explore the beautiful city of Lisboa and Portugal.
I encourage you to actively participate in the workshop, oral communications, and poster program and fully engage in the networking opportunities offered by the IOFOS 2026 meeting and the beautiful city of Lisboa.
I welcome all Forensic Odontology practitioners and all other Forensic Sciences practitioners, as well as researchers, academics, and students from scientific institutions and universities around the world, and promise that you will increase your knowledge in forensic odontology, as well as the evidence-based practices, to make more informed decisions.
I look forward to welcoming you to Lisboa sharing with you the enormous enthusiasm with which we are hosting this event, and wishing to see you all very soon in Lisboa.
Welcome to Lisboa for our IOFOS 2026 triennial meeting.
Warmest regards,

Dear members of the IOFOS, dear delegates, dear colleagues, and dear friends,
It is with great satisfaction that Lisbon welcomes you for the Triennial Meeting of the International Organization for Forensic Odonto-Stomatology (IOFOS 2026), held in the capital of Portugal, between September 9 and 11, 2026.
The chosen theme for The IOFOS 2026 Triennial Meeting, “Digital Workflow and Artificial Intelligence in Forensic Odontology: A Path to the Future,“could not be more timely. We live in a period of rapid technological evolution that present us with great challenges. More than ever, it is essential to keep up with this evolution, but also to discuss what it may entail.
The use of digital workflows and artificial intelligence has been drastically changing the practices of forensic odontology. Today, it is faster, more accurate, and operates at a much higher level of efficiency than it did in the past. This progress is justified by possibilities that, a few years ago, were unimaginable. Just think about the precision with which we can now obtain data, make comparisons, establish patterns, and reach scientifically well-founded conclusions.
However, technological disruptions are always accompanied by challenges, both of a technical kind and of an ethical nature. On one hand, technological advancements happen at a pace that requires a lot from us; on the other hand, they raise entirely new ethical questions, adding to those already inherent in the practice of such a sensitive profession as forensic odontology. In this context, this meeting is particularly relevant, and I am certain that it will be of great value to all who participate.
We feel honoured that you have chosen our country for this important event, and we are confident that you will have an excellent experience.

President of the Portuguese Dental Association
Message from the Mayor of Lisbon Municipality for IOFOS Triennial Meeting 2026 (in Lisbon)
Dear members of IOFOS, dear delegates, dear friends,
Welcome to Lisbon!
It is an honor for us in Lisbon to host such a prestigious event as the Triennial Meeting of the International Organization for Forensic Odonto-Stomatology, which will make the city the global hub for forensic odontology from September 9 to 11, 2026.
As Mayor of Lisbon, I’m glad we will be meeting in such interesting times like those we’re living in. Times in which advances in artificial intelligence are making the headlines in a way that will decisively change our lives – whether it be in broad dimensions such as the way we communicate with each other and the way we do our jobs, or in more specific tasks, such as analyzing dental X-rays or detecting oral diseases. The fact is that Al and digitalization are changing the world. That’s why it is so important for IOFOS to open the debate on its effects on forensic odontology – and Lisbon is the perfect place for doing it. Not only was the city elected European Innovation Capital for 2024, but it is also a city where innovation translates into social welfare. We are, above all, a city with a distinctive social sensibility, where our citizens over 65 years old have a healthcare plan guaranteeing them free access to medical appointments.
I know you will be quite busy during the meeting, in between conferences and workshops. Nevertheless, just make sure you’ll find time to discover the city. Lisbon is one the world’s oldest cities, with a history stretching back to more than two millennia. Make the best of this city by visiting the beautiful castle of São Jorge, by walking through the Belém area where you’ll find the best of Portuguese maritime architecture, by feeling the cultural landscape while listening to our traditional fado shows in Alfama or Bairro Alto.
Lisbon will be waiting for you.
Warm regards,
Carlos Moedas
Mayor of Lisbon
